'Elevation - Pippa Spires'
From 9th of December to 7th of May 2023

Hameau Albert 1er is pleased to welcome the artist Pippa Spires for the second time.
She is a British painter who studied Art and Art History in London,

before settling her equipment in Haute-Savoie.
She’s been living here for 10 years now, and still gets inspired by the environment,
which she portrays using abstract shapes and bright colors : “my main interest is towards abstraction, seeking to define and intensify form with colour”.

This winter, the artist Pippa Spires shows a collection of paintings derived from the motif of
‘cairns’, the piled, stone structures built up along our mountain paths, as well as in many
other locations.

“I was familiar with cairns from a young age, having noticed them while walking in
the Dartmoor National Park, in the south-west of England.
They represent a non-verbal but universal language, a detail of our common human heritage.
Cairns may be perceived at once as safety markers in the landscape,
as collaborative sculptures and as messages of support between strangers.

In choosing this idea as a starting point, I seek to interpret, in works which are more
or less abstract, the presence of these particular forms.”

‘ELEVATION’, an exhibition of paintings by Pippa Spires, is in the Couloir des Artistes in
the Maison Carrier in Chamonix.

Peaks depths - Brylinska
From 9th of December to 4th of April 2023

This winter, the Hameau Albert 1er will be
showcasing the works of Géraldine Papinot
alias BRYLINSKA. Nature, water and mountains are celebrated on the walls of the hotel.

“Ethereal nature, elegiac perhaps, always on the verge of an inner dizziness”,
the artist explains her style, somewhere between realism and abstract.
After traveling the world as a child, she studied art in Geneva and Paris, music and travel awakened her talent.
She lives on the Ile de Ré, but has returned, with this whispering and turbulent exhibition,
to the source of her inspiration: the mountains.
Quoting Verlaine, “your soul is a landscape...”, she confesses to the euphoria that the summits of her childhood provoke.
She paints the elements and great landscapes, paying tribute to the power of raw, majestic nature.
Water, the thread of her work, symbolises the strength and movement of the mountains;
she now lives far away but her soul is still here, anchored to the chaotic yet mighty landscape.
Paintings for the soul.
